Jon Stewart is a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy at the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He has worked at universities and research institutes in Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Denmark, and the USA. He has published several books on 19th- and 20th-century Continental philosophy, including The Emergence of Subjectivity in the Ancient and Medieval World: An Interpretation of Western Civilization (Oxford: Oxford University Press 2020), Hegel’s Interpretation of the Religions of the World: The Logic of the Gods (Oxford: Oxford University Press 2018), Søren Kierkegaard: Subjectivity, Irony and the Crisis of Modernity (Oxford: Oxford University Press 2015), and Kierkegaard’s Relations to Hegel Reconsidered (New York: Cambridge University Press 2003).
