J. C. A. Stagg is the author of The War of 1812: Conflict for a Continent (2012). He is professor of history at the University of Virginia. He is the author of two books on James Madison, as well as many articles on the political, military, and diplomatic history of the early American republic. He currently serves on the editorial board of The War of 1812 Magazine and the board of The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Commission.
