An Islamic cultural center in Manhattan?

Plans by the Cordoba Initiative to build a community center that includes a mosque near the former site of the World Trade Center in New York have sparked a heated national debate. Some argue vehemently that the group–started after 9/11 to promote religious and cultural understanding–should not attempt to build a mosque so close to the site of the 9/11 attacks, while others see it as an affirmation of American values.
