We love librarians. My next-door colleague is on the phone with them all the time. According to an article in The New York Times, during this recession, libraries and librarians are now dealing with issues that weren’t exactly in their initial job description. Not only that, but their budgets are almost certainly being cut.

More Than Coke and Pretzels

So we have finally reached the time when we can celebrate that spring is here. The weather is nice (or nicer than previous months), people are spending more time outside, and the frequency of cookouts and picnics will surely increase soon. This got me thinking about food within the rep world.

Janet Afary’s Sexual Politics in Modern Iran (Cambridge University Press, March) meticulously details the historical evolution of gender and sexuality, and of the roles and customs of women and same-sexers, from pre-modern Persia (500 to 1500 A.D.) right through the sexual revolution that began in Iran seven decades ago.
